We have assembled an outstanding lineup of speakers who bring years of experience in ministry, evangelism, and leadership development:
Dr. Tim Beougher – Expository Preaching & Pastoral Ministry
Timothy Beougher (pronounced Boo – ker) has served as the Billy Graham Professor of Evangelism and Associate Dean of the Billy Graham School at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, in Louisville, Kentucky since 1996. Prior to coming to Southern, he served for six years as Assistant Professor of Evangelism at the Wheaton College Graduate School and Associate Director of the Institute of Evangelism at the Billy Graham Center of Wheaton College. He earned a degree in agricultural engineering from Kansas State University, a M.Div. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Th.M. in Evangelism and a Ph.D. in Historical Theology from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Chicago. Tim is the author of numerous materials on evangelism, discipleship and spiritual awakening, including Invitation to Evangelism: Sharing the Gospel with Compassion and Conviction, Overcoming Walls to Witnessing, Training Leaders to Make Disciples, Evangelism for a Changing World, Richard Baxter and Conversion, and Accounts of a Campus Revival: Wheaton College 1995. For several years he was a featured contributor to Nelson’s Annual Preacher’s Sourcebook. He has served as an evangelist, church planter, pastor, and interim pastor of several congregations. He currently serves as Pastor of West Broadway Baptist Church in Louisville. He is married to Sharon and they are the proud parents of five children and the extra proud grandparents of twelve grandchildren. The Beougher “family” also includes a Golden Retriever named Crockett and an English Cocker Spaniel named Cromwell. Tim’s hobbies include travel, gardening, hunting, fishing and golf.
Dr. Tim Turner – Effective Adult Teaching & Personal Evangelism With 3 Circles
Dr. Tim Turner is the evangelism and discipleship strategist for the West Virginia Convention of Southern Baptists. He will teach two classes: one on effective adult teaching and another on the well-known evangelism strategy The Three Circles.
Tim has been serving the WV Convention of Southern Baptists staff since 2016. Before coming to WV, he served four local churches including Porter Memorial Baptist in Lexington, Kentucky for 16 years as the Discipleship Pastor. He holds an MA in Christian Education from the New Orleans Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Educational Ministry from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Tim has been involved in SBC life in various roles for over 35 years including serving as trustee for LifeWay, the SBC Committee on Committees, and President of the State Sunday School Directors Network. He was married to Shea for almost 25 years before Christ called her home in 2016. God granted them two wonderful children – Jacob (Jordan) Turner and Haylie (Daniel) Reeves – and three grandchildren, Asher, Judah, and Haven as well as one due in July 2025.

Leading Sunday School and Small Groups with Learning Styles and Teaching Methods in Mind:
Have you ever felt like you were not connecting very well to the people with whom you serve? Do you feel like an only a handful of your sheep are actually hearing what you are trying to communicate? In this breakout, we will take some time to discover the major learning styles of humans and connect those with teaching methods in any classroom whether they are adults or children.
Leading Sunday School and Small Groups to Think Evangelistically:
Does just speaking the word evangelism give you a pain in your stomach? In this breakout, we will take some time to be reminded of the foundational reasons for teaching and walk through the 3-Circles method of training your sheep to be on mission every day.
Dr. Steve Holt – Deacon Ministry & Courageous Church Leadership
Dr. Steve Holt is the Church Services Director for the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board. He will lead training on deacon ministry and courageous church leadership, offering practical insights for church leaders at all levels.
Steve serves as director of the Church Services Group of the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board in Franklin, Tennessee. Prior to coming to the TBMB staff, Steve served for over 17 years as a pastor in Northeast Tennessee. He is a graduate of Carson-Newman University and holds a Doctor of Ministry degree in Evangelism and Church Growth from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. Steve is married to Donna Parton Holt and has three adult sons, two daughters-in-law, and three granddaughters.
Steve Awtrey – Vacation Bible School & Effective Children’s Ministry
Steve Awtrey is the Children’s Pastor for McConnell Baptist Church in Hiawassee, Georgia. He will introduce the LifeWay VBS material for 2025 and teach a session on effective children’s ministry.
Johnathon Powell – How To Host An Evangelistic Block Party & Engaging Your Church In Missions
Johnathon Powell has been the Pastor at Oak Grove Baptist Church for the past sixteen years and is currently a member of the CrossNet staff. He previously served as moderator for the association and has led mission trips locally, nationally, and internationally. Prior to his time as pastor he worked as a youth leader and served in the US Marine Corps. He lives in Bradley County with his wife Sarah and their two children, Xander and Katie.
